Study in Australia: Following a trip to three countries, the University of Melbourne has reinforced its enduring dedication to the Pacific area via teaching, research, and professional growth opportunities .Professor Mikkel Weslee, who is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global, Culture and Engagement), guided the trip to Fiji, Samoa, and the Solomon Islands. Throughout the visit, numerous new agreements were established, further strengthening the relationship between the Pacific and the University of Melbourne.
He said, “Our destinies are interconnected.” Pacific nations are pursuing entry to markets, technology, funding, and infrastructure to create a sustainable future, and as Australia’s top university, we acknowledge our collective duty to tackle the issues confronting the area. Collaborating enables us to effect significant change on matters like climate change, access to quality healthcare and education, and socio-economic disparities.
In the previous month, the university established Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with both the University of the South Pacific (USP) and Solomon Islands National University (SINU) to enhance academic cooperation aimed at advancing learning, teaching, and research. Additionally, for overseeing research, enhancing professional growth, and providing opportunities for both incoming and outgoing student exchanges.
