2025-26 Academic Session Updates
The major developments for the current academic year’s admissions include:
- MBBS Seats Expansion (NEET UG 2025): The National Medical Commission (NMC) has revised the NEET UG 2025 seat matrix, resulting in a substantial increase. Over 9,000 new MBBS seats have been added across various states, raising the total number of seats to approximately 1,26,600.
- The expansion follows a Union Cabinet approval for Phase-III medical expansion, which aims to create over 10,000 new MBBS and PG seats by 2028-29 to boost India’s healthcare capacity.
- Medical Admissions for PwBD: The NMC has directed medical colleges to implement interim guidelines for MBBS admissions for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) for the 2025-26 academic year, ensuring equitable access in compliance with the RPwD Act, 2016.More details
- Agricultural University Admissions (ICAR): Counselling for UG, PG, and PhD programs in agriculture and allied sciences, based on CUET scores, has begun.
